Sainz slams Ferrari engineer for bouncing comments
Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has hit out at a team engineer for describing the team's bouncing issues as "not so bad."
Sainz has been one of the most vocal critics of Ferrari's bouncing problems, and he was particularly unhappy with the engineer's comments after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last weekend.
“It was a bit of a surprise to read those comments,” Sainz told reporters on Thursday ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
“I think it’s clear that the bouncing is a problem for us, and it’s something that we need to fix as soon as possible.”
Sainz said he had spoken to the engineer in question, and that he had made his feelings clear.
“I think he understands now that his comments were not particularly helpful,” said Sainz.
“We’re all working hard to fix the problems with the car, and we need everyone on board to be pushing in the same direction.”
Ferrari has been struggling with porpoising since the start of the 2022 season, and it has been a particular problem for Sainz.
The Spaniard has finished on the podium just once this season, and he is currently fifth in the drivers’ standings.
Sainz’s teammate, Charles Leclerc, has been less affected by the bouncing, and he has won two races so far this season.
Ferrari is hoping to bring a major update to its car for the Canadian Grand Prix, which could help to reduce the bouncing.
Sainz will be hoping that the update can help him to improve his form, and to challenge Leclerc for the championship.
