Suzanne Collins' New Novel Sunrise on The Reaping To Be Released

NEW YORK AP - Inspired by an 18th century Scottish philosopher and the modern scourge of misinformation Suzanne Collins is set to release her fifth book in the Hunger Games series titled Sunrise on the Reaping on March 18th, 2025.
Sunrise on the Reaping is a dystopian novel that revisits the world of Panem twenty-four years before the events of The Hunger Games. The novel is set on the morning of the first Reaping, an event in which children are chosen to compete in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death.
Collins says she was inspired to write Sunrise on the Reaping by the work of Scottish philosopher David Hume, who wrote about the importance of truth and the dangers of misinformation. She says she was also inspired by the rise of misinformation in the modern world, which she believes is a threat to democracy.
"I wanted to write a book that would explore the dangers of misinformation and the importance of truth," Collins said. "I hope that Sunrise on the Reaping will help readers to understand these issues and to be more critical of the information they consume."
