Nasdaq Extends After-Hours Trading Hours
New Trading Window Now 4:15 PM to 8:00 PM
Move Aims to Increase Market Liquidity and Accessibility for Investors
Nasdaq has announced that it will be extending its after-hours trading hours, effective immediately. The new trading window will operate from 4:15 PM to 8:00 PM ET, an extension of one hour from the previous 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET window.
The move is aimed at increasing market liquidity and accessibility for investors. The extended hours will provide more time for traders to execute orders and respond to market events after the close of regular trading.
Nasdaq is the second major exchange to extend its after-hours trading hours. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) made a similar announcement earlier this year, extending its after-hours trading window from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET.
The extension of after-hours trading hours is expected to benefit a wide range of market participants, including institutional investors, retail traders, and algorithmic traders. It is also expected to increase the overall volume and liquidity of the after-hours market.
